In history, bracelets have been worn as decoration for the body, but also as protection for the wrists. Early bracelets were made of natural materials like wood, bones, dried berries, etc., often times carved and held together by blades of grass or leaves. Over time, bracelets took on the role of a fashion accessory and began being painted and adorned with precious minerals. Soon bracelets were engraved and coiled and twisted and further embellished for symbolic reasons. The Victorian era brought on buckles and semi precious gemstones and as sleeves got shorter, bracelets began to play an even more important fashion role. Bracelets today are all the rage and a very easy accessory to add to a wardrobe that puts the period of the end of a fashion statement!
