Thai Silver Collection
This section unveils stunning Thai Silver creations, meaning works of art containing Thai Silver as an integral component to the overall design. Thai Silver comes in many varieties, but on this site, is always more pure than 92.5% Sterling Silver. Because of the purity of the silver, the beads are typically more substantial in weight, more organic in design, and work beatifully with a variety of other media like gemstones, crystals, lampwork, etc.
Some of the Thai Silver represented here is Karen Hill Tribe Silver. The Karen Hill Tribe resides primarily in northwest Thailand, in clusters of small villages usually based on family association. They respectfully live by the credo of living harmoniously with land, water, and nature. The Karen are very creative, very hard working, and very talented. Their craft has been and continues to be passed down from generation to generation. Because each piece is handmade, no two pieces are exactly alike. Thai Karen Hill Tribe Silver is 95-99% pure Silver. For the Karen villages, advancing their craft to the Western world enables them to support and sustain their tribe.
We also carry pieces with Prakeuam Silver, also known as Thai-Khmer Silver, which come from the Khwao-Sinarin district of Sunarin province, Thailand. This Silver is 95% pure or greater. The beads are elegantly handcrafted by hammering and carving and molding and soldering the Silver into desired shapes and then oxidizing the newly formed beads to give them a beautiful slightly blackened patina. This patina really makes the design in the bead come alive! These are very coveted pieces as the craftspeople that make this art are slowly migrating toward more tourist oriented jewelry trades.
We invite you to support these crafted artisans just by having a look at what they have to offer. We will be adding new pieces to this collection frequently!
