Gold has always been a symbol of wealth, and in Asia and other parts of the world, it continues to be. Gold has recently taken a bit of a backseat to more affordable metals, but it is one of the best at holding or growing its value. Pure Gold is 24k and very malleable, although it is often mixed with other metals such as Copper or Silver to provide a more affordable lower carat weight and more durablitily or sturdiness. Popular carat weights start at 10k and go upto 24k. Gold Vermeil is a process that was invented in France in the 18th century and has a layer of a minimum standard of thickness of 10k Gold or greater electroplated over Sterling Silver. It allows for stunning creations and durable wear. You will see creations with both types of Gold.
